Missouri tourist attractions and landmarks: Missouri is rich in history including the home of Jesse James, The James family farm in Kearny Missouri near Kansas City Mo was purchased by the county and is now open to the public, also Kate "Ma" Barker born in Ash Grove Mo, Ash Grove is a farming community north of Springfield MO, very peaceful and doesn't even have a bar. The list goes on of the famous (good and bad) born in Missouri.

More modern day history here in the Missouri Ozarks are the beautiful rolling hills and many lakes for vacations, fishing, boating, camping, ATV trails etc. and the popular tourist town of Branson Mo, all located in the Missouri Ozarks, however, the entire state of Missouri offers a wide variety of tourism from St. Louis MO to Joplin MO.

Civil War Museum in Republic Mo; The Wilson's Creek Civil War Museum (formerly the General Sweeny Museum) contains an outstanding collection of artifacts relating to the war west of the Mississippi, including the sword belt and sash of Arkansas Confederate General Patrick Cleburne, the telescope of abolitionist John Brown, and the flag of the Confederate "Cherokee Braves." Wilson's Creek was the first major Civil War battle fought west of the Mississippi River, and the scene of the death of Nathaniel Lyon, the first Union general killed in combat. Although a Southern victory, the Southerners failed to capitalize on their success. With the exception of the vegetation, the field has changed little and remains in near pristine condition.

Famous place in the Missouri Ozarks include is Laura Ingalls Wilder home and museum in Mansfield, Missouri.
